Thomas A. Edison, Jr. married his nurse, Beatrice Heyzer, on July 7, 1906. His original wedding license is shown above.

Beatrice Heyzer was more than a little bit pleased to take Tom Junior's famous name. Her checks and calling cards were imprinted "Mrs. Thomas A. Edison, Junior," which is also how she preferred to sign her name on formal documents, such as this 1916 check. A profoundly religious woman, she supported Tom Junior through the worst of his drinking and insecurities, saying that he was "pathetically sensitive [with] an extremely tender nature," and calling him "a sweet lovable character with clean Christian thoughts."
